The exhibition „Deutsches Bauen“ (German Construction) in Tokyo was an adaptation of the 1931 „German Construction Exhibition Berlin.“ It opened on May 14, 1932, at the Matsuzakaya department store in Tokyo’s Ueno district. The showcase featured approximately 100 construction projects from the original Berlin event, along with 173 images of historic German architecture provided by the „Reichsbahnzentrale“ Berlin. The display included works by renowned architects such as Paul Bonatz, Walter Klingenberg, Erich Mendelsohn, Hans Poelzig, and Max Taut, among others.
The exhibition was organized by the Architect Conference Japan and the Japan-German Cultural Association (Nichidoku Bunka Kyokai). The local arrangement was managed by Japanese architect Gonkuro Kume (1895–1965), who had previously studied at the University of Stuttgart’s Institute of Architecture from 1923 to 1929.
OCLC lists two copies in North America (Princeton University and University of Michigan) and one in Japan (National Diet Library).
Overall, a nice copy; only the spine has a few small tears.
