The series, published by Koseisha Shobo between 1929 and 1931, comprises a total of 17 volumes. Each volume focuses on the contemporary architecture of specific countries or regions. Complete sets of all 17 volumes are nearly impossible to find on the antiquarian market. This 14th volume of the Gendai Kenchiku Taikan series focuses on avant-garde architecture in Switzerland and Czechoslovakia. At that time, both countries were considered centers of “New Building.” Includes buildings by architects such as Karl Moser, Le Corbusier, Josef Gočár, Ludvík Kysela (e.g., commercial buildings and department stores in Prague). Bohuslav Fuchs and Brno Modernism with villas or exhibition buildings (such as the Brno Exhibition Center) are also featured.
The text sheets are slightly browned in places, but otherwise clean and fresh.
