Bauhausbücher, vol. 4.
At the center of Schlemmer’s programmatic introductory text lies the transformation of the human form. He explores the relationship between nature and artificiality, the body and mechanics. He defines the stage as a space in which the visual arts (form, colour, space, architecture) merge with dance, costume and music. Here, the visual artist acts as a synthesiser. In addition to Schlemmer’s contributions, the book contains Moholy-Nagy’s reflections on light, movement and film (‘Theatre, Circus, Variety’) as well as Molnár’s architectural designs for a total theatre space.
The edges of the spine are very slightly rubbed, but otherwise it is a very fine copy.
