Very rare Japanese edition of Ginzburg (1892-1946) basic architectural-theoretical writing “Stil i epocha Problemy sowremennoj architektury“, first published inMoscow in 1924.
Japanese architects and artists were fascinated by the idea that design (construction) could transform society. Ginzburg’s theories on functional architecture and the end of the decorative style met with great interest among Japanese avant-garde artists, who were searching for their own modern identity.
Scare, as of May 2026, OCLC lists two copies in North America (Columbia University and Harvard University) and one in Japan (National Diet Library).
