Johann Friedrich Penther (1693-1749) was a practising architect and university lecturer, who was responsible for a number of innovative designs, including that of the Operahouse at Hanover (shown in pl.78-80 in vol. IV). The first volume comprising a vocabulary of Italian, French and German architectural terms. The following ones are dealing with all types of building, therefore are several tables depicting German contemporary castles or manors.
