First edition, first printing. The exhibition Deutsches Bauen Tokyo 1932 was opened on May 14, 1932 in the Matsuzakaya building in Tokyo’s Ueno district. It was organized by the Architects‘ Conference Japan and the Japanese-German Cultural Society (Nichidoku Bunka Kyokai). The exhibition is a partly takeover of the “German Building Exhibition Berlin” in 1931. Around 100 projects from the Berlin exhibition were shown in Tokyo, as well as 173 photographs of historical German buildings. It was organized locally by the Japanese architect Gonkuro Kume (1895-1965), among others, who had studied at the Institute of Architecture at the University of Stuttgart from 1923 to 1929. The nine-page table of contents is written in German and Japanese. Among others, the following architects are represented: Mies van der Rohe, Brüder Luckhardt und Anker, Wilhelm Kreis, Fritz Höger, Max Taut, Otto Salvisberg, Erich Mendelsohn, Karl Krayl and Richard Döcker.

Further editions were published in 1932, with a different cover design; this 1st edition is certainly the more artistically sophisticated version.
